• Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa): The most important Buddhist shrine in the country, housing the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. A visit during the evening pooja (offering) is highly recommended.

• Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya: Located just outside the city center, this massive 147-acre garden is renowned for its collection of orchids and the giant Javan fig tree.

• Kandy Lake: A man-made lake in the heart of the city. Walking the perimeter takes about an hour and offers a peaceful break from the city traffic.

• Bahirawakanda Vihara Buddha Statue: A giant white Buddha statue overlooking the city. You can climb to the top for panoramic views of Kandy.
